Val can be reached at (269)-598-8565 or 269-929-0185 (after 7:00 p.m. EST). Teaches watercolor pencil, plein air sketching, and calligraphy (Chancery Cursive) lessons, mainly to Adults, but to all ages as well.
Specializes in brush script calligraphy. Has fun doing plein air sketching. Has fun performing calligraphy in public, live, for children and families (for a quarter donation) doing names and meanings of names at 'flea market' venues (Centreville All-Nighter Flea Market) and farmers' markets (Bank Street Market, Kalamazoo, Michigan). Has free tables as vendor at Banks Street Mkt. in order to entertain the kiddos. Will be teaching at Kendall College of Art and Design this Winter of 2008-9, 'House Portraits', in Continuing Education. Call to verify class date and times. Lord willing, will be teaching at Comstock Comm. Ed. in Kalamazoo this August, Calligraphy, to be announced, to all ages. Lord willing, will be teaching after school to school kids at the Portage Community Outreach Center in Kalamazoo, MIchigan, on Centre Street, 'Watercolor', (hopefully to kids with parents in 12-step programs).

Russel Seibert Award for medical illustrations at Western Michigan University, 1975.
Illustrated Animal Zoology at Western Michigan University, by Dr. Gian C. Sud, (c) 1976.
Illustrated leg muscle drawings (8), one in airbrush, two in conte crayon, and remaining in pen and ink with conte crayon, for WMU's Wood Hall Science Building Anatomy Laboratory, Western Michigan University. Did calligraphy for labels of muscles (1976).
Illustrated article by Dr. Kuhns, in Journal of Computerized Axial Tomography (1980).
Illustrated midwife drawings in Haiti to teach Midwives anatomy and physiology of reproduction (1988-89). (Lived in Haiti one year, Admin. Secy at American-run Hopital Albert Schweitzer, in rural Deschapelles, Haiti, 30 miles N. of St. Marc).
